Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Miles

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey there! I’m Ashley Miles, the boss and CEO behind Coco’s Tee Boutique. As a mom of two amazing kids and three adorable dogs, life is always buzzing around here! I’ve been married for five incredible years to the man I met on Snapchat, and I’ve found joy in balancing family, work, and my passion for fashion.

By day, I’m rocking it as an administrative supervisor, but by night, I’m the creative force behind Coco’s Tee Boutique. What started as a simple hobby in January 2024 evolved into a vibrant online clothing haven, championing women empowerment, feminism, and celebrating all body types.

Initially, Coco’s Tee Boutique was just a fun side project that fit into my busy schedule, thanks to its drop shipping model. I began on Etsy and my own website but quickly realized how competitive the market was. As I delved deeper and discovered my passion, I expanded our offerings beyond graphic tees to include dresses, jeans, blouses, active wear, and more.

The online boutique business is incredibly competitive, so I focused on what would make Coco’s Tee Boutique stand out. I spend a lot of time researching the brands and products I offer, and I personally sample them. If I don’t like a product, I simply don’t sell it. Plus, I wanted to offer stylish and comfortable clothing for plus-size women. As someone who has been on a weight loss journey, I remember the struggle of finding cute, comfortable clothing that wasn’t covered in floral prints. I wanted every woman to feel beautiful and confident in what she wears.

The turning point for my business came when I added my boutique to TikTok Shop. To my surprise, I made $2000 in less than 30 days! I didn’t realize people shopped there so actively. Now, my main focus is creating content for TikTok and partnering with affiliates to promote my items. Along the way, I’ve made many internet friends and discovered a community of women supporting women, which aligns perfectly with my mission of women empowerment.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, the road was relatively smooth, primarily because business was slow. However, as my presence on TikTok took off, I encountered several challenges. Being new to TikTok Shop and self-taught, I’ve faced some significant hurdles.

For instance, I’ve had issues with shipping delays. There were times when TikTok canceled orders due to late shipping, even though I had already sent the items. This resulted in customers receiving their orders for free while also getting refunds. Additionally, I’ve struggled with providing too many free samples for products that didn’t sell well or to affiliates who didn’t generate any sales.

It’s all been a process of trial and error, learning from my mistakes and adjusting strategies as needed. As they say, “more money, more problems,” but each challenge has been a learning opportunity, helping me refine my business approach.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right now, I am best known for our Judy Blue jeans. These jeans have become increasingly popular due to their exceptional stretchiness and tummy control. As we continue to expand our offerings, this might evolve, but for now, they are our standout product.

At Coco’s Tee Boutique, we specialize in women’s clothing with a strong emphasis on women empowerment. I am committed to providing high-quality fashion that celebrates all body types. Additionally, I strive to be known for our excellent customer service and attentiveness to our customers’ needs.

What sets us apart is our dedication to not just selling clothes but empowering women to feel confident and beautiful in whatever they wear. I’m most proud of the positive feedback and the sense of community we’ve built around these values.

Any big plans?
Since I currently operate on a drop shipping model, my options are somewhat limited to what I can offer. I don’t want to end up with unsold inventory, so this approach has worked well for now. However, looking to the future, I have bigger plans.

I aim to transition to handling the packaging and shipping of orders myself. I understand this involves a lot more work, but it allows for a personal touch that I believe my customers will appreciate. It also gives me the flexibility to offer a wider range of products from the vendors I collaborate with.

This shift will enable me to enhance the customer experience, ensuring each order is handled with care and attention to detail. I’m excited about the potential for growth and the opportunities this change will bring.
